How To Vote For General Elections
For voting in state elections, you will need your voter ID card. In order to register for a Voter ID Card, you must visit one of your local election office. You will then fill out an application form with details such as name, address and date of birth.

Registering as a Voter
In order to vote in India, you must first register as a voter. To do so, fill out Form 6 and submit it to your local election commission. This form serves as an application for voter registration and, upon completion, will be forwarded on to your state or union territory’s chief electoral officer (CEO). The CEO then compiles these applications into an electoral roll that is used during elections.
Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT)
The Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) system uses a printer like device which dispenses a slip with details of the candidate for whom you have voted for. This slip is visible to voters for a period of eight seconds and then it automatically gets cut and falls into a sealed drop box, which ensures that no voter can be influenced by any other voter. Also, it allows visually impaired voters hear their votes get registered and notify them about rejection of their choices.
Candidate List on EVM Display Unit (CDU)
The candidate’s name and their serial number for that constituency is displayed on a computer-based system placed at each polling station. This is called as Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT).
The Electoral Roll
For voters residing in Bangalore, they can visit their respective polling stations on April 11 and 12. You’ll have to bring your voter ID card or an Electoral Photo Identity Card (EPIC). In case you don’t have either of these documents, you can still cast your vote by signing a declaration that you are indeed a registered voter.
